Scott believes many of the opportunities and challenges facing companies, industries and countries, can be solved by working beyond traditional boundaries and changing complex systems. Navigating these systems takes a new approach.
Scott is passionate about connecting strongly with ‘communities of interest’ and customers/clients to build products and services that make a difference. He has over 20 years’ experience in strategy development, facilitation, service delivery, securing investment, and governance across areas such as sector development, international trade, and research and development – often for complex, multi-party projects and environments.
Scott operates from community to CEO and ministerial level and is an effective change leader. He has led structural and cultural change and adapted commercial approaches to strategy implementation and performance measurement for not-for-profit, community-based, organisations.
Before joining ThinkPlace, Scott held the dual roles of Chief Executive Officer of Beef + Lamb New Zealand (B+LNZ) and Chief Executive Officer of the New Zealand Meat Board. He led the transformation of B+LNZ to a customer-led services organisation by using design-led techniques to deeply engage farmers, agribusiness stakeholders and government.
Scott has a technical background in agriculture, animal nutrition and pastoral systems with a BSc (Wool and Pastoral Science) (Hons) and PhD from the University of New South Wales, Sydney, Australia. He has undertaken a range of leadership and executive education, including the Stanford / National University of Singapore Executive Management Programme in International Management.
